NFC East rivals clash in Dallas on Monday Night Football when the Cowboys host Donovan McNabb and the Philadelphia Eagles. Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made the Cowboys 7-point favorites.

Bet the Eagles at Cowboys

Kickoff: 8:30 PM ET

Spread: Cowboys –7

Over/Under: 46.5

Trends:

PHILADELPHIA is 10-2 ATS (+7.8 Units) as an underdog over the last 3 seasons.

PHILADELPHIA is 119-84 ATS (+26.6 Units) against conference opponents since 1992.

PHILADELPHIA is 3-1 against the spread versus DALLAS over the last 3 seasons

PHILADELPHIA is 3-1 straight up against DALLAS over the last 3 seasons

2 of 4 games in this series have gone OVER THE TOTAL over the last 3 seasons

Outlook:

Both of these teams got off to a hot start to the 2008 NFL Season as the Eagles thrashed the Rams 38-3 in their home opener and the Cowboys dismantled the Browns 28-10 in Cleveland. Both of the teams’ quarterbacks did well, with Donovan McNabb throwing for 361 yards and three touchdowns, while Dallas signal caller Tony Romo threw for 320 yards and one score.

The Cowboys controlled the game early by amassing a 14-7 lead and then padded their total by dominating Cleveland on the ground. The Browns did have some success getting to Romo, however, and the Eagles will look to do the same Monday night. Philly defensive coordinator Jim Johnson loves to blitz and Romo should expect to be under immense pressure all night. The Eagles will have to be careful, however, because WR Terrell Owens and TE Jason Witten can burn any team when left in one-on-one coverage.

Offensively for the Eagles, McNabb will look to spread the ball around to allow running lanes to open up for RB Brian Westbrook. “Westy” will also have the opportunity to make plays in the passing game and as long as the offensive line gives him time to throw, McNabb shouldn’t have a ton of trouble moving the ball against the Cowboys’ secondary.

Prediction:

How effective the Eagles’ defense is while blitzing Romo will be the key in this game. If Philly can get the Dallas’ offense out of rhythm, the Cowboys might have trouble lighting up the scoreboard like they’re accustomed to doing. Either way, Dallas should strike for big plays and we expect this to be a shootout. Currently public betting information says that 51% of bettors favor the Eagles +7. We predict the Cowboys over the Eagles 30-27, but Philly to cover.
