Week 3 in college football rolls on with a Friday night matchup in South Florida. The No. 13 Kansas Jayhawks take on the No. 19 South Florida Bulls. Lets take a look at the spread, game matchup and hand out a prediction.
Kickoff: 8:00 PM ET ESPN2
Point Spread: South Florida –3.5
Kansas has an outstanding offense; South Florida has an outstanding defense. Something has to give. Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have made South Florida a 3.5-point favorite. The Bulls are coming off an overtime victory over Central Florida, and they’ll get an even bigger test against the Jayhawks. QB Todd Reesing is excellent at getting the ball out of his hands quickly, while South Florida has defensive ends that can get a good edge rush. Look for Kansas’s running backs to make one cut and get up the field to avoid negative losses to give the Bulls momentum.
KANSAS is 12-2 ATS (+9.8 Units) in all games over the last 2 seasons.
KANSAS is 9-1 ATS (+7.9 Units) when playing with 6 or less days rest over the last 2 seasons.
KANSAS is 9-1 ATS (+7.9 Units) after 2 or more consecutive straight up wins over the last 2 seasons.
KANSAS is 12-2 ATS (+9.8 Units) in all lined games over the last 2 seasons.
KANSAS is 1-0 against the spread versus S FLORIDA over the last 3 seasons
KANSAS is 1-0 straight up against S FLORIDA over the last 3 seasons
1 of 1 games in this series have gone UNDER THE TOTAL over the last 3 seasons
Even though South Florida boasts the best defense in the country, Kansas’s offense does a great job of staying out of bad down-and-distance situations. Reesing isn’t going to shred the Bulls, but look for Kansas to use its running game to wear down South Florida late in the game. We predict the underdog Kansas over South Florida 30-27.
