With Week 1 of the 2008 NFL Season right around the corner, let’s take a look at which teams fared the best against the spread (ATS) last season.
Each year is different in the NFL, but it helps bettors to know which teams fared the best ATS from the previous season. Especially when a team didn’t change much in the offseason.
The Cardinals, Bears, Colts, Jaguars, Patriots, Chargers, Seahawks and Bucs largely kept the same rosters from a season ago. So it might be a good idea to keep that in mind while breaking down how each of those teams fared ATS in 2007.

When viewing these records, it’s a good idea to see how much turnover each teams’ roster went through in the offseason.
While the Saints weren’t good against the spread last year at 6-10, they also upgraded their defense and added another playmaker to their offense in TE Jeremy Shockey. So assuming they’ll finish 6-10 isn’t necessarily wise. But the Jaguars, Chargers and Seahawks have virtually the same rosters that made them good bets ATS last year so they might be good values again in 2008.
