With Week 1 of the NFL Season kicking off Thursday night and proceeding through the weekend, it’s a good time to look at how teams did against the spread (ATS) last season.

Bet NFL Football Week 1

Sometimes a look in the past can be a window to the future. The Chargers, Browns, Texans, Bills, Seahawks and Bucs had the best ATS home records last year, while the Dolphins, Saints, Rams, Eagles and Chiefs had the worst.

Best home ATS records in 2007:

San Diego 7-1

Cleveland 7-1

Houston 6-1-1

Buffalo 6-2

Seattle 6-2

Tampa Bay 6-2

Worst home ATS records in 2007:

Miami 2-5-1

New Orleans 2-6

St. Louis 2-6

Philadelphia 1-5-2

Kansas City 1-6-1

While looking at the best away ATS records in 2007, an interesting trend developed. None of the top away ATS teams last year (Eagles, Chiefs, Falcons, Panthers) finished above .500, proving that even though a team’s win/loss record isn’t great, they still offer plenty of value against the spread.

Best away ATS records in 2007:

Eagles 6-1-1

Jaguars 6-2

Kansas City 5-2-1

Falcons 5-3

Panthers 5-3

Worst away ATS records in 2007:

Ravens 0-8

Broncos 1-7

Lions 2-6

Texans 2-6

49ers 2-6
