As the calendar turns to the month of September, baseball enters its final month of the regular season. Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global has listed updated MLB odds to win the 2008 World Series.
Oddsmakers have established the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Angels as +400 favorites to win the 2008 World Series.
The Red Sox suffered a huge hit when they put starting pitcher Josh Beckett on the DL last week. Boston has dealt with several injuries to key players in the second half and also traded away power hitter Manny Ramirez. Still, it’s hard to count the defending champs out of this year’s championship race.
The Chicago Cubs are one of the more balanced clubs in baseball. They have a stacked lineup and also added Rich Harden at the deadline to make a nice 1-2 punch with ace Carlos Zambrano at the top of the rotation. If the bullpen holds up, the Cubs are the favorites to come out of the National League.
The Angels might have the most talent from top to bottom in all of baseball. They also have a tougher road because they play in the AL. Still, the starting rotation is solid and the lineup is stacked. The Halos have to be the favorites to come out of the AL and quite possibly the favs to win the 2008 World Series.
