CHICAGO, IL (The Spread) – The Giants and Cubs kick off a new series tonight at Wrigley and with the way Ryan Vogelsong has pitched versus Chicago, San Francisco might be a solid value for bettors.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Giants are -106 money line road favorites versus the Cubs, who are -102 money line home dogs. The total, meanwhile, is currently sitting at 8 runs at most online and Vegas sports books.
The Giants will start Vogelsong, who is 7-8 with a 3.71 ERA, while the Cubs will counter with Tsuyoshi Wada, who is 2-1 with a 3.15 ERA. Vogelsong is 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA in three August starts while Wada is 2-0 with a 2.49 ERA in his last four outings while allowing two runs or fewer in each outing.
The Giants are 4-1 in Vogelsong’s last five starts versus the Cubs and 5-1 in their last six road games versus Chicago. The Giants are also 4-0 in their last four games as a road favorite, 6-1 in their last seven games as a favorite and 5-1 in their last six road games versus a team with a losing home record.
The Cubs, meanwhile, are 17-35 in their last 52 games on Tuesday and 22-54 in their last 76 games after allowing two runs or less in their previous game. They’re also 4-10 in their last 14 home games versus a right-handed starter.
