MIAMI, FL (The Spread) – Will Chad Johnson be signed by an NFL team prior to the Week 1 of the 2012 NFL regular season? Let’s check out the odds.
On Saturday night Johnson was arrested on domestic violence charges in Davie, Florida. According to the police report, he head-butted his wife during an argument and caused lacerations to her forehead. The fight allegedly stemmed from Johnson’s wife finding a receipt for a box of condoms.
Less than 24 hours later the Miami Dolphins released Johnson just months after they signed him to a one-year contract. This has raised the question of whether or not the 34-year-old receiver will find a job somewhere else. He only lasted one season in New England after the Patriots traded two picks for him last offseason so it was a reach that the Dolphins signed him when they did.
So, getting back to the original question, will Chad Johnson be signed by an NFL team prior to Week 1 of the 2012 NFL regular season? The odds are damning for Chad, with the odds of “Yes” being +200 on the money line and the odds for “No” being –300. Clearly oddsmakers don’t believe that Johnson will latch on to another team before the start of the year.
Something that is standing in Johnson’s way of signing with another team (besides his arrest, that is), is that the Dolphins are the most receiver-desperate team in the entire league. So if Miami isn’t willing to hang on to him, which team is going to stick its neck out for him now?Want More From TheSpread.com? Follow us on Twitter and Facebook or Subscribe to Our News Feeds!
