(The Spread) – Oddsmakers have updated the odds to win the 2013 American League Cy Young Award and Max Scherzer remains favored.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Scherzer is a 4/7 favorite while Felix Hernandez of the Mariners is 2/1. Yu Darvish, meanwhile, is 9/1, while Bartolo Colon is 15/1 and Justin Masterson of the Indians is 20/1.
Continuing with the current odds, Matt Moore of the Rays and Hiwashi Iwakuma of the Mariners are 25/1, respectively, while Hiroki Kuroda of the Yankees, Joe Nathan of the Rangers, and Mariano Rivera of the Yankees are all 33/1, respectively.
Scherzer leads the Majors in wins with 16, while Colon, Moore, and Chris Tillman of the Orioles all have 14 victories apiece. Hernandez, meanwhile, has the best ERA in the American League with a mark of 2.30, while Kuroda has a 2.42 ERA and Colon has a mark of 2.50.
David Price is the defending AL Cy Young winner after notching a 20-5 record last season. Justin Verlander won in 2011 with a record of 24-5, Hernandez won in 2010 with a record of 13-12 (2.40 ERA), and Zack Greinke, formerly of the Royals, won in 2009 with an overall record of 16-8.
