MINNEAPOLIS, MN (The Spread) – Recent trends don’t paint a positive picture tonight for the White Sox, who have struggled against the Twins in Minnesota.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Twins are -148 money line favorites over the visiting White Sox, who are +136 money line underdogs. The total for tonight’s game is sitting at 8.5 for the 8:10PM ET start time.
The White Sox will send Hector Noesi to the hill against the Twins’ Phil Hughes. Noesi is 4-7 on the year with a 5.21 ERA and has allowed five deep balls and has walked 14 batters this month alone. Hughes, meanwhile, is 10-6 on the year with a 4.06 ERA and is 4-2 with a 2.68 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 13 appearances (nine starts) versus the White Sox.
Minnesota has not been kind to the White Sox of late. Chicago is 0-4 in its last four road games in Minnesota and 0-5 in its lat five games overall versus the Twins. The Sox are also 1-4 in Noesi’s last five road starts, 1-4 in his last five starts as an underdog and 2-5 in his last seven starts overall.
On the other side the Twins are 7-3 in their last 10 games versus AL Central opponents, 5-0 in Hughes’ last five starts versus AL Central opponents and 12-5 in his last 17 starts overall. The Twins are also 4-0 in their last four games when their opponent scores two runs or less in their previous game and 4-1 in their last five games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
