MILWAUKEE, WI (The Spread) – The Reds and Brewers open a big series in Milwaukee tonight when Mat Latos takes on Wily Peralta in Game 1.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Brewers are -140 money line favorites over the Reds, who are +129 money line road underdogs. The total for tonight’s 8:10PM ET start time is currently sitting at 7.5.
As previously mentioned, Latos takes the hill for Cincinnati sporting a 2-1 record and a 2.79 ERA but he’s had his issues with Milwaukee. He’s 3-4 with a 3.16 ERA in 10 career starts against the Brewers and back spasms caused him to leave his last start before the All-Star Break early.
Peralta, meanwhile, is 2-3 with a 3.14 ERA in seven career starts against the Reds, which includes a 2-0 victory at Cincinnati on May 2 when he pitched eight scoreless innings. He’s 10-6 on the year with a 3.72 ERA and went into the All-Star Break on a high note by holding division rival St. Louis to an unearned run over seven innings on July 13.
According to latest MLB trends, the Reds are 0-4 in Latos’ last four road starts versus the Brewers and 2-5 in his last seven road starts overall. They’re also 1-4 in his last five starts when their opponent allows five runs or more in their previous game and 1-4 in his last five road starts with the total set between 7.0 and 8.5 runs.
