MIAMI, FL (The Spread) – If the latest reports out of Miami are true, it looks like the “Big 3” could be on its way to breaking up.
According to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski via Twitter, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chis Bosh clearly had a “breakdown in communication.” Per the report, LeBron appears to be ready to explore the open market as there won’t be any shortage of interested teams.
What’s interesting about this report is that Wade just opted out of the last part of his deal, which would have paid him $41.5 million over the next two years. If James were to leave Miami, Wade would be out a lot of money and no true wingman to bring another title to the Heat. According to Marc Stein, James’ agent, Rich Paul, has already met with the Cavs, Mavericks, Suns and Rockets about a contract for his client.
Yahoo! Sports is also reporting that Paul suggested to the teams that he met with that if Pat Riley fails to quickly bring in a strong supporting cast, LeBron would be willing to meet in person with his prospective suitors. James is reportedly asking for a max contract.
What’s somewhat confusing is James’ incentive. While he’s asking for a max deal, his motivation has been about having a strong supporting cast around him and thus, winning titles. The Cavs failed to build a strong supporting cast for him in Cleveland, which is one of the reasons he left for Miami. What’s interesting is that he might be heading out of Miami soon for the same reasons. Stay tuned.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Heat are currently 7/2 favorites to win the 2015 NBA Finals. Of course, those odds are subject to change depending on if LeBron stays in Miami.
