According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Montreal Alouettes quarterback is an 11/4 favorite to throw for the most passing yards in 2013. Calvillo was second to Henry Burris of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in passing yards last season, as he threw for 5,082 to Burris' 5,367 yards.
Burris, meanwhile, has the next best odds to throw for the most passing yards this season at 7/2. BC quarterback Travis Lulay has the same 7/2 odds, while Ricky Ray of Toronto is 9/2 and Drew Tate of Calgary is 5/1. Darian Durant of Saskatchewan has 11/2 odds, Edmonton's Mike Reilly is 10/1 and Winnipeg's Buck Pierce has the longest odds at 20/1.
Last season Lulay threw for 4,231 yards, Ray threw for 4,059 yards and Durant threw for 3,878 yards. In 2011, Calvillo threw for a league-high 5,251 yards, while Lulay threw for 4,815 yards and Ray threw for 4,594. In 2010, Durant led the league with 5,542 yards, while Glenn threw for 5,102 yards and Burris had the third-highest passing yards with 4,945.
Week 1 of the 2013 CFL regular season begins this Thursday, June 27 when Montreal hosts Winnipeg at 9:00PM ET. The season continues on Friday when Toronto hosts Hamilton and BC visits Calgary. Saskatchewan also visits Edmonton on Saturday afternoon.
