CHARLOTTE, NC (The Spread) – Panthers quarterback Cam Newton agreed to a new five-year, $103.8 million contract extension with the team on Tuesday.
Newton’s deal includes $60 million guaranteed and $67.6 million over the first three years. It’s large comment for a quarterback that has only won one playoff game in his career. That said, Newton has helped the Panthers win back-to-back division titles and he remains one of the true dual-threat signal-callers in the league.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Panthers are 40/1 long shots to win the 2016 Super Bowl and are 22/1 to win the NFC Conference championship in 2015.
