(The Spread) – Jennifer Lopez isn’t sure that she’ll return for a third year of American Idol and oddsmakers have released prop odds for which celebrity could potentially replace her.
According to oddsmakers, the favorite to replace Lopez on Idol is Mary J. Blige, who has odds of 7/2. Fellow singer Gwen Stefani has the next best odds at 9/2 while Mariah Carey and Katy Perry are both 5/1, respectively. American music producer and chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M James “Jimmy” Iovine is 6/1.
Continuing with the odds, Avril Lavigne and Miley Cyrus are both 7/1 to replace Lopez, respectively, while Selena Gomez is 10/1 and Nicki Minaj is 15/1. Paula Abdual, who was an American Idol judge between 2002 and 2006, is 15/2 to replace Lopez if she doesn’t to leave Idol.
Lopez recently told her Twitter followers that she hasn’t made up her mind when it comes to returning to American Idol for season 12. Says Lopez, “There is no truth to reports that say I am definitely leaving Idol. All I said was I haven’t decided what I am doing next year.”
The season finale of American Idol Season 11 will take place on FOX on May 22 and May 23. Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez are the last remaining contestants and as of this writing, Phillips is a 4/13 favorite over Sanchez, who is 5/2 underdog.
