LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) –Will the Toronto Maple Leafs make the playoffs this season? The odds don’t look good.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the odds that the Maple Leafs will make the playoffs are currently 1/4 (or -400). The odds that they will make the playoffs are 5/2 (or +250), so clearly oddsmakers are skeptical of Toronto’s chances.
If the playoffs started today, the Maple Leafs would be on the outside looking in, although at 80 points they’re tied with the two wild card leaders, the Blue Jackets and Red Wings. But they’re also tied with the Capitals, who remain a slot ahead of them in the standings.
Knowing that, will the Maple Leafs finish eighth in the Eastern Conference, or will they finish at any other position? The odds that they’ll finish eighth are currently 3/1 (or +300), while the odds that they’ll finish in any other position are 1/5 (or -500).
Finally, will the total points for Phil Kessel in the 2013-2014 regular season be over or under 81.5? The odds for the over are 4/7 (or -175), while the odds for the under are currently 5/4 (or +125).
