MINNESOTA, MN (The Spread) – Could Adrian Peterson wind up with a new team for the 2015 NFL season? Recent rumors suggest he could be on the move via trade.
Yahoo’s Charles Robinson reports that the Cardinals will offer a “high draft pick” for Adrian Peterson if the Vikings were to make the running back available this offseason. Peterson is still under contract with Minnesota through the 2017 season but could be made available because he reportedly has concerns about remaining with the team due to the fallout of his 2014 season.
This isn’t the first time that Arizona has been connected to AP, as Yahoo’s Rand Getlin reported last week that the Cardinals’ release of Darnell Dockett may have been to clear cap space to make a run at Peterson. Robinson also believes Arizona would be Peterson’s top choice.
The Cardinals had a busy opening week in free agency, signing run-mauler Mike Iupati to a five-year, $40 million contract while also adding defenders Cory Redding, Corey Peters and Sean Weatherspoon. Trading for Peterson would solidify their re-built running game.
