NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -Drejon Scott scored 15 points to lead six New Jersey Tech players in double-figure scoring in the Highlanders' 96-54 win over St. Joseph's (N.Y.) on Monday night. Nick Lopez scored 14 points, Sammy Schickel 13 and Jheryl Wilson and Isaiah Wilkerson had 12 apiece for the Highlanders (1-1). PJ Miller chipped in 10 points. Wilkerson led the Highlanders with 10 rebounds and three steals. Scott was 4-for-9 from 3-point range. The Highlanders led by just five points midway through the first half, but went on a 24-10 run to take a 43-24 halftime lead. Schickel scored six points during the spree. Tech opened the second half on an 18-2 run and never looked back. The Highlanders outrebounded St. Joseph's 63-33 and capitalized on 19 turnovers. Jon Matzelle was the only St. Joseph's (0-1) player in double figures, scoring 13 points. |
